Course details

The main aim of the ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Facial Skincare is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide facial skincare treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the beauty therapy industry.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 18 and over and provides a sound platform into further training at level 3.

This qualification is for learners who want to work within the beauty therapy industry.

The qualification consists of 4 mandatory units with a total of 129 hours of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.

The main skills the learner will perform are:

  • Facial skincare
  • Consultation,
  • Skin analysis,
  • Cleansing,
  • Massage, application and removal of masks,
  • Adaptation of treatment to suit the client’s needs and
  • Providing aftercare advice

Marking Criteria

Once all aspects of the mandatory units have been completed,

Learners will be expected to complete an Internal Practical Assessment. This will be undertaken by the internal assessor using the internal assessment forms.

These must be handed to the ITEC external examiner on the day of the final external practical examination

  • Their Cleanse routine
  • How they analysis the skin
  • How they perform the Massage sequence
  • How they apply the facial mask – the sequence
  • Home care advice
  • There will be oral questions also

Course instructors expertise

The course tutors who will be teaching this course are seasoned beauty therapists who have both over a decade of working experience each in the beauty industry.

  • Cynthia has been a qualified beauty therapist for over 35 years and currently has enterprises both in the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.  She was one of the first, if not the first tutor of Laser and light treatments in the United Kingdom.  Her expertise in the Beauty industry is second to none and she is a great trainer in her field.
  • Joyce is also a seasoned and qualified cosmotologist who has worked aboard cruise ships and currently has her own salon in St Lucia.
